Thank you, Mr. Discount Drugs & Gifts!
This was so cool, an outdoor sign announcing my book signing at Mr. Discount Drugs & Gift Shop on Poplar Springs Drive. I couldn't resist a photo op. This is another one that will go into a memory book for my grandchildren. One day, I hope they will sit down with their great-grandchildren and say, "This is my grandmother." (I couldn't bring myself to write that in the past tense!)
While I was there, I caught a glimpse of a beautiful wide brim hat nestled among lovely photograph frames and candles. Needless to say, I couldn't resist the colorful bow and I bought the hat. After all, In Mississippi there are plenty of opportunities to wear a hat in the summer.
Thank you, Mr. Discount and your gracious staff for rolling out the red carpet!

Polka Dot Patti
By June Davis Davidson
Illustrated by Glenda Lloyd
Patti is quite persistent, especially when it comes to polka dots.
But the one thing Patti needs is the perfect pair of shoes to match her purple, polka dot clothes and purple bows.
Patti will tickle your funny bone and giggle your tummy too, in this whimsical tale for girls.

Searching for the perfect book for pre-school girls can sometimes be a challenge. Especially, one with a lively character to energize the pages.
Polka Dot Patti does just that. She’s lively and nice and does almost (giggle) everything right. She’s made of sugar plum dreams and a pocket full purple, moonbeams.

Come on down to the Crossroads Shopping Center in Meridian on November, 6th and step right into The Spotted Pony's colorful world. Look for me, the Purple Shawl lady with the purple pen signing copies of Polka Dot Patti from noon until two in the afternoon. I'm sure you'll agree. Polka dots are just plain fun at any age. And fun it was on November 6th, at the Spotted Pony's Crossroad location in Meridian, MS.
From polka dotted cupcakes and juice for the children to the festive, purple and white balloons. What a joy to sit at a polka dotted table and sign copies of Polka Dot Patti. This purple, shawl lady with a happy grin and purple pen especially loved to sign books for the children who came in with parents in tow. I'm sure this fun book will put a smile on the face of forty young girls who bought, or received a signed copy of Polka Dot Patti, on Saturday. Can any pre-schooler have more fun with the letter P?

Cass says: Young children will love this book. It has so many things going for it. The color purple (of course), polka-dots (who doesn't love polka-dots?), kindness, and even a little something for the blooming Fashionista. It also incorporates literary devices loved by young children; alliteration and rhyme. Let's face it. The letter "P" is just plain fun to say, and this book is full of them. The rhyme does not follow a strict pattern, but it is pleasing, none-the-less. The use of rhyme helps to build up expectations that lead to a surprise ending. Brilliant. Favorite books I have read and loved.
One of my favorite books for children. The author, Michele Verhoosky talent as a children's author delights the reader on each lively and humorous page of this hard back edition. A book that begs to be read again and again. Lois Ebbert's colorful illustrations are top notch. A favorite book of mine from the giggling Grannies, Michele and Lois!

I am a Barbara Parks fan. Among my favorite book in the Junie B. Jones series is Junie B., First Grader -The Toothless Wonder. Why? Because it is gut bursting, floor rolling laughter from the first page to the last.

POLKA DOT PATTI Book Reviews
Rose Lamatt writes:
A great book for children ages 2-6. Patti, a little girl who loves purple polka dots. But when it comes to wanting them on her shoes she goes a little to far. This story is great for small children, especially if read with expression.

This review is from: Polka Dot Patti (Paperback)
Author June Davidson brings readers into the world of a little girl named Patti and her purple polka dot world. What I love about Patti is that her obsession with polka dots rings true with all kids her age, who become enamored with fads and phases and go a bit overboard in collecting them. We have all been a Polka Dot Patti sometime in our life, as have our children. And that's why Polka Dot Patti is the perfect book for any reader. The main character and her over-the-top craving for polka dots, from her head all the way down to her feet, allows readers to see themselves, but in a fun way. What I love about the ending of this book is that it's not preachy and doesn't try to force a message. Patti makes up her own mind when looking in the mirror and seeing nothing but polka dots and nothing of herself. She learns through experience and therefore reveals a strong character that can just as easily change her mind and go...blue.
The consonance of the "P" sound and internal rhymes make this a fun read for both adult and child. The illustrations are colorful and lively and filled with purple polka dots. I highly recommend this book not only for a good read, but as a learning tool to allow children some discussion on why Polka Dot Patti decided to go blue.

Adorable book for little girls. I bought it for my niece. Love this book! I would definitely recommend the purchase of this book that tells such a precious story.
Sarah Mutziger writes:
This little book has big fun with the letter P. I read it outloud to children age 1-4. I accentuate the P in every word. They do it with me. The rhythem and rhyme are satisfying We make the letter P on paper and look for purple colors everywhere, or, make the color purple if the children are old enough. Sometimes we make more rhymes. It also lends itself to craft activities with polka dots. A fun book for pre-schoolers. Sarah Mutziger

A MUST-HAVE for Precocious Little Girls!
Polka Dot Patti is a delight, both in its engaging storyline and vibrant and whimsical illustrations. Sure to be a favorite of fashion-conscious little girls, this book also presents a lesson in generosity of spirit often challenging for very young children; as well as for some "me" centered grown-ups. This small book with a big story is definitely recommended for precocious little ones.
